/ About this site

An independent guide to gardening equipment.

gardening.equipment exists to answer one question well: which gardening equipment is worth your money? We publish recommendation guides built on public manufacturer specifications, the four-question durability framework we apply to every tool, and the working consensus of gardeners who have carried these tools for decades.

Who runs this site

gardening.equipment is owned and operated by SKALDOS LTD, a private limited company registered in England, company number 16999133.

Editorial direction sits with a small independent team. Contact us at contact@skaldos.com for editorial enquiries, corrections, or partnership questions.

What we publish

  • Buying guides — eight topical hubs covering every angle of choosing gardening equipment (essential, best of the year, for beginners, for small gardens, professional grade, maintenance, how to choose).
  • Category overviews — six families: pruning, hand tools, watering, power, soil & compost, storage & care.
  • Tool reference pages — manufacturer specifications, where to buy, and our applied verdict using the durability framework.
  • Seasonal guides — a monthly almanac of what to plant, prune, buy, and maintain.

What we don't do

  • We don't accept paid placement, ever. No brand has ever paid for a position on any list.
  • We don't accept review samples from brands. Equipment we discuss has either been purchased independently, has been used personally by an editor, or is recommended on the basis of manufacturer specs + industry consensus — and we say which.
  • We don't publish fabricated test data. Where you see a specification figure, it comes from the manufacturer's published documentation; where you see a recommendation, it comes from our framework + lived gardener experience.

How we earn

gardening.equipment is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.

We may also earn from direct-brand affiliate programmes for retailers like Niwaki, Felco USA, and A.M. Leonard, where these exist.

Affiliate commissions never change the price you pay, and they never determine which products we recommend. The full disclosure is on the Affiliate Disclosure page.

How we choose recommendations

See the Methodology page for the full picture. In short: every recommendation has to pass the four-question framework (forged construction, replaceable parts, real warranty, manufacturer continuity) plus reflect the working consensus across multi-decade gardener communities. We don't run a test bench; we don't claim measurements we haven't made; we cite our sources where the claim is non-obvious.

Editorial corrections

If you spot an error — a wrong spec, a discontinued tool, a broken link, or a recommendation you believe we got wrong — please email contact@skaldos.com. We publish corrections inline with a dated note, and we keep a public log of significant changes.
